Our instructors have or are earning advanced degrees in math and/or physics and many years of real teaching experience at the university level, which means students get more than homework help—they get expert-level explanation from someone who knows how to teach.
That combination is rare, and it’s exactly why our tutoring is a premium service:
- Deep mastery of math, physics, and chemistry concepts (not just tricks or shortcuts)
- Strong teaching ability that adapts to each student
- Efficient sessions that lead to real improvement faster
- Support that builds independence, not dependency
If your student needs more than “step-by-step answers,” this is the difference.
How It Works
Quick consult (free)
We learn what course you’re in, what’s hard, and what your goals are.
Tutor match
We match you with a tutor based on subject, learning style, and schedule.
Our Philosophy
There’s no such thing as “not a math person.” Students learn differently—and most classrooms can’t adapt to every learning style.
Our tutors break down concepts, rebuild confidence, and teach problem-solving skills that students can use independently long-term.

About the Founder and Main Tutor

Gruson Academic Group was founded by Alex Gruson, a physicist and aerospace engineer with over 15 years of experience tutoring high school through college-level math and physics.
Alex earned her B.S. in Physics from UC Davis and her M.S. in Physics from Cal State Fullerton, graduating with academic honors. Her background includes astrophysics research at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory and graduate research connected to LIGO (Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory). She also taught university-level courses for two years and previously served as the Director of Operations for a mathematics tutoring company, giving her deep experience in both instruction and educational leadership.
Alex built Gruson Academic Group around one core belief: there’s no such thing as a “math person.” With the right approach and the right teacher, students can gain real understanding, confidence, and independence. Her mission is to connect families with tutors who combine advanced subject expertise with exceptional teaching ability—a rare combination that makes a measurable difference.
